Red, Red, Red

The first picture is from François Ozon's newest film, Angel. Ozon has directed 8 Femmes, Swimming Pool and 5x2, but this film looks very different from his previous works (I have no idea what's about really), though this single image caught my attention. The dress reminds me of red rose petals, and how beautiful it is the white background. Snow is always so photogenic. I believe the couple in question is played by Sam Neil and Romola Garai, one of the actresses who plays Briony in Atonement. I would like to see Angel just because of this image, despite of any bad or good reviews. Red reminds me of blood that reminds me of suffering, that reminds me of love. Red is so passionate, yet so melancholic. I love this selection of pictures, all of them are flickr courtesy.

I love this video and song, the best project Kylie has ever done in my opinion. I'm obviously all about peace and against violance towards women (Do I really need to say so?), but who would accuse this song of pro-violance, for God's sake? There's something beautifully haunting about it. "Minogue, as Eliza Day, is admired, then horrifically murdered by Nick Cave's character. He calls her the Wild Rose. Cave's character is entranced by Eliza's beauty and hates the idea of it fading, so he kills her in order to preserve the memory of her beauty forever. He visits her home, and becomes obsessed with her. The next day, he brings her a beautiful red rose, then asks her if she'd like to see where such beauty could come from. On the final day, he takes Eliza to the river, where he gives her a farewell kiss, then kills her with a rock. He then places her in the river where the wild roses grow, puts a rose in her mouth, and closes her terrified eyes" (Wikipedia).

Busy, busy, busy days. It's been REALLY busy lately, and excuse me the lack of proper updates. And it's being hard even visiting so many blogs more than once or twice a week. I suppose it'll be better by the middle of december. Anyway, have you all a nice week.

The first picture is stunning and I love Romola Garai, I've always thought she deserved recognition since I saw her in I capture the castle. I haven't heard about this movie, but it looks interesting from what imdb says, and seeing sam neill in a film is so weird because for the last few years, all I've seen him in is documentaries.
And the Kylie song/video is so creepy!

PS. Thanks for the slide tip, I never knew and it's awesome!!!

Kamila, fiquei ainda mais interessada em "Angel" depois do que vc disse. Ah, a melhor coisa desses festivais de cinema são esses filmes raros que dificilmente chegam no circuito comercial.

Jayne, his films are quite interesting! I suggest you should take a look on them;-)

Meg, I've never seen Romola Garai in a film (not that I remember). I'm really looking forward for seeing her in "Atonement". That song/vid is indeed creepy, but I like it somehow:-p

É verdade, Romeika. O ponto positivo dos festivais é esse mesmo que você falou. Pena que filmes como "Angel" não possam ter uma penetração maior.

Creepy video. There is nothing romantic about beating someone with a rock. What memory does that preserve? I liked the pictures of the roses, though.

Romeika said...

Seraphine, who said the video was romantic? *lol*

I equate red roses with romance. I'm easily confused, Romeika.

Romeika said...

That's ok, Seraphine, no worries. We're all confused sometimes.

I love the pictures of the red roses contrasting against the white backgrounds.
