I'm in love again

Yesterday I saw Atonement in a cinema theater with only three rooms. I have never been in that theater before, and no one had ever told me about the lovely Audrey Hepburn curtains covering the screen. I wonder if there's a Marilyn Monroe curtain in one of the other rooms. I'll have to leave soon, but when I'm back by the end of the afternoon, I'll write about this very special film that fulfilled all my expectations, unlike so many others. By the end of the session, I heard a lady talking on the phone, saying that Atonement was the second film she had seen that day, and she was off for a third one. I smiled and thought: That's exactly the kind of company I need.

Is this incredible theatre in Copenhagen? I have a bunch of family there so I must try and track it down next time I go visiting.

That theater looks amazing, I hope we had something like that here. But they all look the same, as if they came out of an assembly line... pretty much just like everything else in the US :P

I've never seen anything like that, it's so cool wish they would do it at the movie theater here!

Wow! What a cool way to go into the cinema. And to see Atonement (on the 3rd viewing at the moment). I hope you enjoyed it and was the end a shock. I must admit, I read the book afterwards and was equally as shocked.

Romeika, respondendo à sua pergunta sobre a Amy Adams. De acordo com um blog, a apresentação dela acontecerá ainda na primeira meia hora de Oscar. Fica de olho!

Hey Powderpuff and Stupidcupcake: It's the Metropol København, which is located inside a little "mall" close to the train station (Københavns hovedbanegården).

The Hepburn face is in the room #1, not sure if there's anything special in the other two.

Nicole, do you mean the very end? I felt really surprised about one thing in the book, something that is actually pretty obvious in the film (the real raper), although I already knew it (I read the book), so I can't really be sure if everyone else in the audience could guess.

Kamila, valeu!:-) Aqui já são 23h e nem começou o pre-show, vamos ver o quanto eu aguento. Premiações deveriam ser no sábado!

Romeika - yes, I thought "the chocolate millionaire" was pretty obvious especially when he metioned the scratches at the dinner table. The shock for me was at the end (probably because I hadn't seen any trailers). I liked how different it was compared the book but both worked really well.

Nicole, indeed, it was pretty obvious who was the real "villain" that night. And I can imagine the end might turn out as a shock if you had no idea of what was going to happen, and since people usually expect a very different ending in such films..

Flávia, lindo, né? beijos.

I simply adore this idea! Have you found out if they have other great curtains like this?

It must have been nothing short of magical...there's something very old-world about movie theatres, in my city they've all given way to mall multiplexes, which are nice but characterless.

Romeika said...

Grinda, no, I haven't been in any of the other rooms yet.. But I wonder:-)

Blue Floppy Hat, it's the same way in my hometown in Brazil, so unpersonal and characterless. I love the theaters I can find here in Denmark.

Why isn't more theaters like that one?

Oh I've been to metrolpol several times! Why haven't I seen it? This is a really good excuse to a cinema trip!

You can see "Juno" tomorrow in Bio 1, where the Hepburn face is. I have been in Bio 2 and there was no special curtains.
