A current trend i don't really get is this thing of wearing scarves during summer time. I admit it can look really nice and elegant, but it just doesn't make sense in a nice and warm day. I can tolerate women wearing such a garment in north european countries, since summer this year has been more like the fall season. The problem is that i've spotted women wearing big and thick scarves (not that light one from the second pic) in rare HOT summer days. Hot, like over 25 degrees, very sunny, sunny enough for make you sweaty. How far this trend goes?!?
I just can't stand anything around my neck area when it's hot, even a simple necklace could bother me in hot days. I don't really know who created this trend or where it comes from, but it's just so ridiculous. Look at the Jessica Alba picture. I don't know if she's in LA or NY City, but all i know is it must be hot as hell in any of these cities right now. The same observation goes to Gisele. And Kirsten is the only one who at least seems to be wearing a light one.
What do you guys think of this trend? Do you love it or hate it?

was browsing around and i found your site! your site is wonderful! ^^
but my gosh, i love scarves and i think the look is okay if its a light silk/chiffon scarf or the like..but i do understand about not being able to stand wearing anything around my neck when it's hot. i wore a turtleneck to uni today not knowing the temperature and my gosh, i died today. lol.
haha, thanks for d comment, nudes are d best!!
scarfs are too!!!
haha jus bought one which is suitable for summer frm river island... loved it so!!!
great trend!!!
Ugh, when it's hot, I wear as little as possible. No rings, no necklaces, certainly no scarves.
Too hot for scarves !
I totally agree with you. It is really weird to wear that thing around my neck on hot days... I really don't get it.
By the way, thanks for your reply, and I also added your link to my blog.
Take care,
Dani
i love scarves, i have too many! i like this trend but i'd keep the wool, and fleece scarves for winter! :D
I saw one of my scarves in my car the other day, it made me sad and wanting the cool weather to be back again now.

Scarves are so nice they make me feel nice and cosy even indoors I have so many of them!
Amo scarfs!!
Amei o post!
mil beijos e abraçosss
Cinza é tudo! Muuuito chic tbm!
mais beijosss
Cotton Candy, welcome here! And thanks for the compliments ^^
If it's not so hot and the scarves are made of silk and chiffon, then i think it's fine, even for summer time.
Penelope, as long as it's suitable for a not so hot summer, no problems:-p
Seraphine, i'm like you, then hehehe. Back in my home town, it was always so hot during summer time, i could hardly wear a necklace.
Dani, you're welcome. And i agree with you, it's kind of insane to wear scarves in LA or NY City right now.
Blushing Apples, it looks nice, indeed, but i think it's silly if it's too hot:-)
Eli, I opened my wardrobe the other day and i saw my beloved summer dresses, how much i wish the hot weather came back for once and didn't leave us until the first autumn day. Dream.
Jennifer, you used the right word to define scarves, and it's winter in Australia, isn't it? So enjoy them!:-)
Acho esses óculos bem baratos, aqui custam R$ 350,00.
beijosss
This is an idiotic trend. I just returned to NYC from Italy. In intense heat 30-40C they are wearing these big scarves! I make fun of Italians for wearing them after Sept. 1, even if it's 30C in NY.
But now a piece in the New York Times shows it happening among non-Italians here!

Terence, that's my whole point when I wrote the post. It's ok when it's a chilly summer, typical in CPH and some other places in Europe.. but it's just silly and out of place when one is wearing a thick big almost winterly scarf when it's so hot! hehe
