I was very interested to visit this place after reading about it on
Line's blog. Although it's part of the National Museum, it's located in an actual apartment which belonged to a family from the 1890s until the 1960s, when it was donated to the museum. All the furniture and textiles are the same as it used to be between 1890 and 1914, and hearing our guide telling about the family who once lived there, does take one back to those times. I was firstly mesmerized about the luxury in the living room, the crochet traycloth in the dining room and the lovely christmas tree, the rich details on the ceiling and so on - oh, so romantic, as it reminds me of the art design in some of my favourite films set in the late nineteeth century, but as we walked along the corridor, seeing the bedrooms and a narrowed bed that made their sleep uncomfortable, porcelain jars that served as toilet and finally, a bathroom followed by a description of their bathing habits... Suddenly a vision of a female brushing her long silk hair by the dressing table didn't seem that romantic. Jokes apart, this is a wonderful and unique place, so whenever you're in Copenhagen, don't miss the opportunity to see it. As taking photos wasn't allowed, I found the picture above
here.

I used the little time before the guided tour to see one of my favourite spots at the National Museum, the old doll houses. Actually the whole toys area is my favourite. On the other side of the wall one can see the fine details inside them. Quite lovely.

This is so pretty! I would love to see this place, yet another reason to visit Denmark as soon as I can, hehe!
Sound very interesting!
I can't believe that's a dollhouse interior, it's so detailed, and it has wooden floorboards!
Deve ser um museu majestoso, não? Adoro poder ir a lugares como este e voltar no tempo. Os móvies e objetos parecem ser intocados... Bela dica para o meu euro tour!
Beijos!
Rita and Carolina, it's definitely worth a visit:)
Meg, I couldn't believe it either, not the first time I saw them, they're so richely detailed.
Kau, pode anotar a dica, este apartamento (o ingresso se compra no museu, e de la, segue-se para o apartamento, q eh pertinho) eh realmente uma experiencia unica. Bjs!
I couldn't imagine that it is a doll house interior!I thought it was another room in the museum:)
Zuki, and actually was, I must have confused things, the other picture was taken at the museum a year ago, but in another area.
Dear readers, I apologize for the mistake!
