Dressing warm x Dressing stylish

hehehe... I couldn't help posting these pictures of Leighton Meester, in the first, she's heading to set of Gossip Girl and in the next, taking a break (?) between one tape and another. The coat might be the same, but check out her feet! Not to mention the superwarm coat from the first picture, what one could call a "proper winter coat", always ready to defy the rain, the wind, the snow, in short, the freezing weather so many of us are familiar with during winter time. As a typical fashionista, Blair will always place style above comfort, despite the fact it does mean frozen toes. Judging from these pics, it seems like Leighton is more reasonable than fashionable. What about you, guys? Does style always come first? Or is it easy to dress stylish and still be warm?

You wouldn't catch me wearing itsy bitsy shoes like that in winter. Ever! I'm the girl who wears cottons socks, knitted wool socks AND winter boots, at once.

I'm sure her red coat is pretty warm though, I've lived in Norway my whole life and never felt the need for down coats. Wool works just fine :)

That being said, it's way easier to dress stylish when it's warmer outside.. I tend to pick warmth over style unless I'm going somewhere public

"it seems like Leighton is more reasonable than fashionable". Concordo, acho que é bem por aí mesmo. E ela é maravilhosa! ;-)

Para mim, o que vale, na hora de decidir o quê vestir, é o meu conforto. Não ligo muito para a moda, sinceramente. Sou bem básica e casual.

What a funny comparison! I personally will never wear a coat like the first unless I'm in the Artic! I get cold a lot, but I believe it is about managing the cold, not erasing it! Plus, I'm overly self-conscious I have to like my clothes to think straight during the day!

I'll usually risk the cold, but only if I'm gonna be outside for a short period of time.

I agree. I'd rather add layers then wear something that looks like a black marshmallow! it doesn't look good on anyone...except maybe Arctic explorers!

i always dress for comfort. if it's not comfortable, generally i won't wear it.

Here is Alaska, comfort always, always, always wins. I try to make that comfort stylish as well, but frankly, when it's FREEZING COLD outside, I just want to stay warm!

It's strange but I haven't worn boots once this winter, and I rarely wear trousers/jeans anymore so this would be normal, however it gets a lot colder in NY than it does here which means I get to dress warmly and stylishly (I hope anyway!)
Leighton Meester always does a great job of looking immune to the cold anyway, if only the rest of could show we're freezing with nothing more than a rosy blush!

I believe it is easy to dress stylish and be warm but only of you know your own style and you have a very defined personality, if not you would be a mess of coats, sweaters, etc...

Eu sou adepta ao conforto! Passar frio em nome do estilo nem pensar! Mais fácil procurar um estilo que esteja de acordo com a temperatura!

She's so pretty. The first coat is something I've never seen, so it seems kind of weird to me. Wearing comfortable clothes/shoes should be the first (or second) fashion rule. Heels are nice, but they must have a comfy pad, I don't want my feet to suffer. I think, it's the same with being warm in winter. Here in Peru, the temperatures are tender, so style and being warm can be in the same level of priority (I can even wear flats with no socks and I wouldn't freeze). But if I lived in Amsterdan, I probably put on coat, socks, tights and everything warm I find :)

the first coat looks like a sleeping bag!

i think overall i balance practicality and fashion. sometimes i get SICK of wearing boots though so i tough it out in flats even when there's snow on the ground.

i wish fashion came first... but i'm heading to college in boston next winter so I just bought a 3/4 length northface, and I'm ashamed to say I've owned uggs for over a year and a half and am looking to replace them with another pair of fuzzy uggs. sure, i might not look fashionable, but i can still look cute in these unfashionay objects, right?

Ohhhh this was very very very funny Romeika!

I've got to say, I personally try to satisfy my need for comfort and my love for fashion at the same time. Nevertheless, I would never leave my house (at least not for a relatively long period of time) without feeling comfortable.....

I like heels, but if I'm going dancing, shopping, visiting museums and art galleries or just walking and wandering around... I always wear flats. I always want to feel free, and being comfortable is one of the first steps to do that.

I think its about finding what you feel comfortable about. If you like fashion or aesthetics, then you probably won't feel comfortable leaving in your pijamas.
