The 1920s are back

I've mentioned on a previous post that i'm not really interested in the US Vogue editorials, though a single photo shoot from one of its previous edition called my attention. Now it's just so obvious why. I've never agreed with all seasonal trends as much as i do right now, therefore i'm loving to see nearly all the editorials from Us Vogue's september issue (you may check some of them here). The upcoming autumn is dreamlike, it's everything i've praised for so long, though it's nothing but a renovation of past trends, as everything (?) in fashion. Yes, Oscar Wilde (the quote on the right side of this page) was severally right.

I adore black, but i love to give it a break and wear purple and other vibrant colours. Vibrant colours are so in right now, but you gotta be audacious and self-confident to wear the entire single-coloured look, like the photo bellow. And aren't those oxford shoes to die for? The lace-up black shoes were commonly worn by women during the two great world wars, for its functionality ("While the boys are away, we work for victory"), though its origin lies in the early 20th century, as they seem to descend on the gibson shoe, worn by the Gibson girl's wannabes. But that's something for another post.

Besides the vibrant colours there's the male wear inspiration in trousers, waistcoats, the already mentioned shoes and anything else you might have in mind. But the eternal lovers of the girlish look don't have to worry about it, as this look is also "in". Nevertheless, nothing truly put a smile on my face as the fact the 1920s are back. And when i think of 1920s, i think of cloche hats, oh those lovely hats. I've always wanted to wear them, but in the brazilian tropical weather it would seem so foolish. In my brief unpretentious analysis, it seems like i will be "following" some of this season's trends neither because i'm a fashion victim (hell, no!) nor because i like to wear my hair short.
