Take a good look at the pictures above. Do you consider them to be vintage photographs? Or perhaps, you wouldn't be surprised if I told you, they are part of recent editorials displayed in fashion magazines like Vogue? They're neither one thing nor the other. The models are wearing pieces we may call vintage, but despite of their acessories and make-up, one has to agree that all these pictures possess a contemporary feeling. Some were taken in the 1940s, one in the late 1930s and another one in the 1960s, but I wouldn't call them "vintage". Before knowing about photographer Norman Parkinson, I thought that only guys like Newton and Avedon were the genious behind early fashion photographs. See more of his amazing work here.
