Just some plain beauty to fulfill the last evening hours

Remember that current american Vogue editorial (right below) i mentioned on a post a week ago? The 1920s and 1930s are back and so are the vintage hats, but as Oscar Wilde once said (here i go again!) fashion is so unbearablely ugly we are compelled to alter it every six months, and what is contemporary fashion but a "reinterpretation" or a "comeback" of past lines? Of course things are more complex than that, but notice how the photos above could be intertwined in a way with those american Vogue's photos below. What do they have in common? The vintage hats and perhaps the fact model Guinevere Van Seenus appears in both of them and the photographer Steven Meisel photographed them both. The b&w photos were featured in a 1996 edition of Vogue Italy. It's very clear in these garments the minimalistic atmosphere that so well characterized a certain aspect of the 1990s.

Manicure. Well-care and beautifully polished nails are flattering to any of us, as the bright red lipstick which can suit women from different shades of skin and hair (notice how gorgeous red-haired model Cintia Dicker looks on the left pic below). I like this "modern" version of the french manicure, as you polish the tip of the nails in white and choose a bright dark colour to the rest of the nail. If you know how to do it yourself, great!, and if you can afford the care of a professional, even better. Back in my hometown in Brazil, i used to have my nails done at least every 15 days, as the prices are pretty affordable (nearly 4 euros in a fanzy place; less than half in an average place), but here in Denmark the prices are outrageous and i've been told the lady doesn't even remove the cuticle. Yes, it's been 8 months my nails don't feel the touch of a bright-coloured nail polish. But what does it mean when there's a lot worse going on around the world, right? Like Britney Spears heartbreaking comeback. Just kidding.
